The Representation of Partisan Activists in Government

This paper investigates the level of representation that partisan campaign activists have in the federal government. It finds that, as a whole, partisan campaign activists are not better represented than non-activists over the entire period. It also shows that Democratic campaign activists are better represented when there is a Democratic president in the white house then Democrats who are not campaign activists. Finally, it shows that activists who are donors and or volunteers are better represented than activists who simply put up yard signs or bumper stickers on behalf of a campaign.
